Braude nanosatellite selected for the next Israeli space mission

The satellite was designed, machined and assembled entirely on campus, with the students keeping the bill of materials inside a student budget.

A nanosatellite designed and assembled by fourth-year students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering has been selected to fly on the next Israeli research mission, following an 18-month review process.

From a workshop bench to launch qualification

The 3-unit CubeSat carries an experimental thermal-imaging payload built entirely in the college workshops, with commercial components kept to a minimum to keep the build cost inside a student budget.

The team will spend the coming months on vibration and vacuum qualification testing before the satellite is handed over for integration.
