Advanced materials research wins the annual faculty prize
Work on self-healing composites for wind turbine blades has taken this year annual faculty research prize, recognising four years of laboratory work and two industrial pilots. The composite reseals micro-cracks under operating temperature, which is where blade maintenance costs concentrate over a turbine service life.
