New Technology Will Track Eye Movement to Assist Users

Students & Alumni

Researchers in the Department of Software Engineering are developing a computer-vision system that tracks eye movement in real time, enabling touch-free control of a computer — using nothing more than an ordinary webcam.

The system is aimed first and foremost at people with motor disabilities, but also at sterile working environments where touching a keyboard is not an option. A pilot with a regional rehabilitation centre is planned as the next step.
